As we approach the new year with exhaustion, I want to shed a little light on everyone, especially my fellow beginner bloggers. For several months, I continously mapped out the best blogging hack that should work for me come spring 2023. No, it isn't purrfect, but it is a sweet add-on I'm anticipating to accomplish before summer 2023.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, that's fine. We'll go over every little thing in this post, and possibly within my next podcasting episode via Spotify called The Quiet Library. Creating a podcast from your blog website!
I'm officially using WordPress again, at least for the next six to eight months before rotating blogging platforms. While I was away, my loyal 99+ email subscribers thought I fell from the face of the earth, never to be seen or heard from again.
Well, they were right at first until I decided to reactivate and clean up both my WordPress and Anchor.FM account. Man, those things were super dusty since 2020, when the pandemic took over everyone's sanity and peace. Regardless of what my reasons were, I thought it would be a great idea to turn some of my blog posts into podcast episodes and text videos on YouTube. I chose this route since many of us use a lot of social media platforms to connect, collect, and disperse information about what we know (or would like to know). Why should bloggers consider podcasting?
Creating a blog post is easy, especially if you're great with writing more than speaking your mind aloud. It's a challenge if you're not used to the next step when it comes to blogging. Bloggers should try connecting their blog posts to their podcasts. If you're using Anchor.FM and WordPress, you can turn your blogs into an AI read podcast for free.
Now, not everyone agrees with WordPress, let alone enjoy using their platform. If, for any reason, you're using another platform outside of WordPress, then download Speechify and screen record the audio reading your blog post or text files. After doing that, you can extract the audio via Anchor.FM and use it as a podcast episode of your choice. Those who love to read their work should let go and have fun! Make sure to use a clear voice and summarize challenging parts, especially if you're OCD with grammar and pronouncing certain words correctly. I have a YouTube channel I want to use instead of podcasting. What could I do in this situation?
Great news!
If you are more of a YouTuber, there's an option to turn your blog posts into vlogs or audio-visual reads. Imagine listening to your favorite audiobook, for free, on YouTube. It's fun and engaging, plus millions of people use YouTube 24/7! My tip for using YouTube as a vlogging platform is similar to creating a podcast. Don't focus too much on how it looks until you've mastered the delivery. What I'm saying is, if your delivery is clear, accurate, and engaging, then people will continue to return to your content and refer to it more often. Using podcasts to market your brand and who you are as the expert writer and/or speaker. After building your desired YouTube channel, the next step is preparing your content using a storyboard or flow chart to map out your ideas. What are you going to talk about first? Are there parts you would like to omit from your content so everything can flow smoothly? Use this time to make appropriate edits and changes before and during the recording process.
I chose building my podcast around my blogging to show my husband new developing talents while figuring out what I want to do before turning 30. Being a stay at home mom with small children drives me to do something for myself, remaining sane and alive long enough to enjoy the little things in life.
There are a few episodes available, but the main focus is delivering digestible information for my followers or quick link clickers that's under five minutes. Some episodes might last longer than usual, but it also depends on the topic and word count. Doing this helps me rebuild connection between those that follow me and future followers who're bored or too busy to physically read my post online. Bloggers should try podcasting every now and then. The more we expand our platforms to support our viewers and subscribers will help us reach new goals we secretly set for ourselves. Sometimes it might feel impossible to accomplish, especially with the advanced technology, invasive ad and paywall placements, and overly priced subscription services. However, if we take it one step at a time, and give the public what they're asking for while staying true to ourselves, more people will continue to visit and recommend our expertise to others who needs to know about us and whatever else we know.
